Where I used to work there were different levels of differential. $1 per hour for evenings, $2 per hour for overnight, and $1 per hour for weekends including day shift. So if you worked saturday or sunday 2nd shift, it ended up being $2, and $3 for overnight weekend shifts. I know that this policy worked well as an incentive to cover evening and night shifts.
